The Church, Foster Care, & Project 1.27

Today my heart was doubly stirred and encouraged. First I had lunch with a dear brother heading up the  orphan care ministry at his church in Greenville, SC. He and his wife are in the process of adopting through the State and we had a great time talking about the incredible need for the church to live out James 1:27 and to care for the orphans right in our own backyard as well as those around the world.

Everytime I think about it I can’t help but get excited about what glory and p raise God is  getting and will get as the church steps out and cares for these children! It’s a joy to be able to partner with them!

Then on my way home I talked to my friend Christopher Padbury at Project 1.27 in Colorado. God is doing great things through them! If you want to see a great model for the church taking responsibility for the children in our foster system go visit them online here. The exciting thing is that this vision and burden is spreading to churches all around the country.
