The bags are packed (finally) and my wife and I are off to Uganda tommorrow for a week. The purpose of this trip is to take the next steps in pursuing an adoption of a baby boy or girl (or both!?)
Shawnda and I have been praying for months and the Lord has increasingly burdened our hearts for Uganda. I don’t have time right now to tell the whole story of how God began to break us for this nation and people, and especially the orphans, but over the last 3-4 months He has been making it clear that this is the direction we are to go. The more we hear from folks in Uganda and the more I read about the babies and children there right now my heart is overwhelmed with the desperate need. In all of it, I feel deeply that one thing we can do is provide a family for at least one child.
Along these lines, the Lord continues to remind me of His heart in all this through Psalm 68:5 and 6:
“Father of the fatherless and protector of widows
is God in his holy habitation.
He settles the solitary in a home”
God is more concerned and more passionate and more faithful to these millions of children in Uganda and around the world who are fatherless than I ever will be. He is sovereign over this trip and our hearts and that is so good to know! If you pray for us, pray that we would not only know this truth but feel it and live in it day to day together this week. Most of all pray for the children! Pray that God would magnify His mercy in their lives and be glorified in all we do!
Thank you friends! I will try to keep you posted.
Safe travels and may God go with you every step of your travelling journey and your next adoption journey.
Will indeed be praying for you both, Jason. Look forward to tracking your progress.
I met this sweet couple today when I was at Sanyu Baby Home checking on a little baby boy that we are trying to bring home (he will be the 6th Ugandan child that the Lord has given us to shepherd and love). We are a Calvary Chapel missionary family called by the Father to bring hope to the Ugandan children. Your ministry blessed me and I am asking the Lord to pour out His favor!
