Stewarding God’s Resources for Adoption

Here is a brief outline of the first part of the workshop I did this past Saturday at Providence Baptist Church:

Stewarding God’s Resources for Adoption

I. God’s Pull

Seek God and let him pull your heart to where He would have you serve the fatherless. Remember, the foundation of our pull to adoption is the reality of God’s adoption of spiritual orphans as His son’s and daughters.

Romans 8:15-17: “For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ.”

II. God’s Promises

God knows what it costs to follow His call to adopt. In fact, His own adoption of us cost him an infinite price – the blood of Christ. He promises that where He guides He will provide all that we need.

2 Corinthians 9:8: “God will generously provide all you need.”

Philippians 4:19: “This same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”

Matthew 7:11: Jesus said, “If you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him”

 III. God’s Provision

God is a cheerful and passionate giver. He loves to give and show that He is a great God, mighty and able to do what seems impossible to man.

There are many resources available to help with the financial cost of adoption.

Romans 8:32  “He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?”

We had a great time at the Providence Baptist Church Adoption Expo on Saturday! Julie couldn’t make it but our good friend RJ Caswell of Weaving Families shared a table with us and we had some great fellowship.

It was great to reconnect with the Mestas family, the Falchooks, the Georges (thank you for putting on such a great event Teresa!), our friends at New Life Adoption Agency and Amazing Grace Adoptions, and to spend time with Meredith and Smitty of Caroline’s Promise.

I was encouraged by the turnout at the Financing Adoption workshop and the questions asked. Pray for the numerous folks who are just beginning the adoption process and trusting God for the finances. I look forward to seeing how God provides in BIG WAYS for His glory, as He so loves to do!

Providence Baptist Adoption Expo

Dwain, Julie, and I will be at the Providence Baptist Adoption Expo ( all day today! If you are in the area we’d love to see you. It is a FREE event!

I will be leading a seminar on Financing Adoption this morning. Pray that God will be magnified and folks would be encouraged!
